The
Thessaloniki State Orchestra TSSO is announcing auditions for five (5) permanent work positions (with a 2-year probation period) for the following instruments:
A) One (1) Associate Principal French Horn position, with duty to 5th and 7th French Horn.
B) One (1) Tutti Cello position
C) One (1) Tutti Viola position
D) One (1) Tutti Trombone position for the 2nd and 4th trombone
E) One (1) Tutti Percussion position
Auditions start on Thursday, March 28th 2024.
The place in which the auditions will be held, as well as every other matter relevant to them (detailed audition timetables, orchestral excerpts, etc.) will be determined and announced by the Audition Committee. The official announcements will be displayed on the premises of TSSO’s administrative offices (2, Pittakou str., 54645, Thessaloniki, GREECE, 4th floor), as well as on the Orchestra’s official website (
www.tsso.gr).
Audition Repertoire:
For the Associate Principal French Horn position, with duty to 5th and 7th French Horn:
a. MOZART: Concerto No. 2 KV 417 or Concerto No. 4 KV 495, 1st movement with Cadenza and 2nd movement
b. STRAUSS: Concerto No. 1, in full
c. Excerpts from orchestral works
d. Prima vista
For the Tutti Cello position:
a. 1st movement of one of the of the following concerts: LALO, SAINT-SAENS
b. HAYDN: Concerto in C Major, 1st movement (with Cadenza)
c. Excerpts from orchestral works
For the Tutti Viola position:
a. 3rd and 4th movement from a REGER suite.
b. 1st movement of one of the following concerts: HOFMEISTER, STAMITZ
c. Excerpts from orchestral works (without the Soli)
For the Tutti Trombone position for the 2nd and 4th Trombone:
a. DAVID: Concerto in E flat Major, 1st movement
b. Excerpts from orchestral works
c. Prima vista
(For bass trombone: E. SACHSE: Concertino in F Major)
For the Tutti Percussion position:
a. Participants may select a piece for Timpani or Percussion, with an approximate duration of 1m30s.
b. Excerpts from orchestral works
c. Prima vista
All who wish to participate in the auditions must submit or mail (with an appropriate Post receipt) an application to the TSSO (2, Pittakou str., 54645, Thessaloniki, GREECE, 4th floor).
The deadline for application submissions is thirty (30) days from the first working day after the last publication of this announcement to the daily Press.
Applying candidates may only be: citizens of any European Union Member State, Northern Εpirotes, Cypriot expatriates, Greek expatriates from Istanbul and from the islands of Imvros (Gökçeada) and Tenedos (Bozcaada) as well as expatriates from Egypt. Naturalised Greek citizens may also apply.
