On Friday, the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra (TSSO) launched its new concert series titled "In the Time of Mozart" during the Researcher's Night, organized by the National Centre for Research and Technological Development (EKETA).
TSSO Director Simos Papanas noted in the semi-annual publication that the Classicism era, coinciding with the Enlightenment, was marked by experimentation, innovation, virtuoso performers, musical duellists, and daring pioneers. Mozart thrived in this environment, which saw the creation of new musical instruments and the establishment of the symphony orchestra.
The Researcher's Night provided a fitting backdrop for the concert, which featured works by William Hershel, Benjamin Franklin, and the existential explorations of Beethoven and Haydn.
The audience warmly applauded the contributors, including presenter Georgios-Ioulio Papadopoulos, conductor Kornilios Michailidis, soprano Siranous Tsalikian, mezzo-soprano Hlektra Manousi, tenor Mihail Mihaylov, bass Tasos Apostolou, the Kosovo Philharmonic Choir led by Hajrullah Syla, and the Thessaloniki Mixed Choir directed by Mary Konstantinidou, along with the TSSO.
