Athanasios Sourgounis

Athanasios Sourgounis was born in Thessaloniki in 1981.
He studied at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki (violin and advanced music theory) and then continued his studies in viola and orchestral conducting. He is a member of Thessaloniki State Orchestra and member of xPause string quartet. He has been an associate of Ensemble Modern, member of the World Youth Orchestra and has performed as a soloist and conductor with all major national orchestras. His multifaceted artistic activity extends from early baroque to contemporary music. Athanasios holds a Master’s Degree from the School of Music Studies of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and teaches viola at the Department of Music Science and Art of University of Macedonia.
