Sokratis Trouptsidis

Sokratis Trouptsidis was born in Corfu, Greece, in 2000 and took his first musical steps in the Corfu Philharmonic Society. He continued his percussion studies under Marios Mouzakitis at the Ionian Conservatory, graduating in 2018 with highest distinction and first prize.
He subsequently pursued further lessons with Raymond Curfs in Munich and Sven Pollkötter in Kassel. In 2019, he was admitted to the Bachelor of Music program at the Louis Spohr Academy of Music in Kassel, Germany, where he studied under Sven Pollkötter and graduated in 2025. He has also participated in masterclasses and seminars with distinguished musicians and educators including Wieland Welzel, Arend Weitzel, Franz Lang, Henrik Schmid, Jean-Baptiste Leclere, Thomas Schwarz, OPERcussion, Theodor Milkov and Spyros Labouras.
In January 2023, he was awarded First Prize in the Solo Percussion category at the Peredur Percussion Competition in Germany.
Since 2017, he has been a member of the Greek Youth Symphony Orchestra, performing as a timpanist and percussionist. In 2020, following a successful audition, he was selected to participate in the European Student Orchestra for its European tour. In April 2023, he took part in the Bochumer Symphoniker Academy under the guidance of Arend Weitzel. Later that year, after an audition process, he was appointed to an academy position with the orchestra of the State Theatre Kassel for the 2023–2024 season.
He has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Musikverein in Vienna, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Grand Theatre Shanghai, the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, and the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron).
Throughout his professional career, he has collaborated with numerous of distinguished orchestras and ensembles, including the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, Staatstheater Kassel, Göttinger Symphonieorchester, Athens State Orchestra, Musica Assoluta, Detmold Chamber Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra of Athens, and the Philharmonisches Kammerorchester Wernigerode.
Since April 2025, he has held a permanent position as percussionist with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra.
