CLASSICAL WAVES

SATURDAY JULY 6th

Plácido Domingo

special guests: Christina Poulitsi & George Perris
with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Jordi Bernàcer

An iconic performance from Plácido Domingo will open this year’s Sani Festival. With an illustrious career including some 150 roles and more than 4.400 performances, over a hundred recordings, and an impressive collection of 12 Grammy Awards, he is rightfully recognized as one of the finest and most influential singing actors in the history of opera. Defined a ‘Renaissance man’, and awarded with many honorary titles and prizes, not only for his musical panache but for his humanitarian commitment, Plácido Domingo is an eclectic artist celebrated worldwide. Performing on Sani Hill on Saturday 6th July, the musical maestro is guaranteed to enchant. Performing beside him will be the singer, George Perris, a multilingual Greek-French tenor who has performed internationally and appeared onstage with Lara Fabian, Boston Pops and Michel Legrand, and the soprano Christina Poulitsi, an enchanting performer declared “one of the best interpreters of the role of the Queen of the Night” in Mozart’s ‘Magic Flute’. On stage for this performance will also be the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, one of the major and historical symphonic ensembles in Greece, under the gifted direction of Jordi Bernàcer, who conducted regularly on prestigious international stages, such as the Vienna State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Semperoper Dresden and in the most important theatres in Italy and in Spain. In this synthesis, the ‘Domingo Myth’ will mark the start of a momentous musical summer under the stars on Sani Hill.
