A true star 13 November 2023

The great Latvian mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča shone in her performance yesterday in our city, as a true star who rightfully belongs to the global elite in her field. With her charismatic warm voice, she captivated the music-loving audience, culminating in her interpretations of excerpts from the opera 'Carmen' in the second part, confirming the corresponding characterization of the New York Times as "...the best Carmen of the last 25 years".
The audience called her back to the stage after the concert repeatedly, with the diva responding with three encores, jokingly saying “And that’s enough!” at the end. The TSSO conducted by her husband, distinguished Gibraltarian conductor Karel Mark Chichon.
