Carrying the positive energy from Thessaloniki's previous concert, TSSO with conductor Miltos Logiadis, and trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth—who stole the show—travelled to Belgrade. The audience warmly welcomed the renowned Norwegian soloist and her performances of Haydn's 'Trumpet Concerto in E-flat major, Hob.VIIe:1' and Arutiunian's 'Trumpet Concerto in A-flat major.' The program also featured two remarkable Greek works: Nikos Skalkottas' 'Sinfonietta in B-flat major, AK 10,' performed for the first time by the orchestra, with musical preparation by Yannis Sambrovalakis and the Centre for Greek Music, and the 'Dodecanesian Suite No. 2,' recently released by Naxos on the TSSO's CD 'Topos, 20th Century Greek Orchestral Music.' This concert was a co-production of the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki and the Cultural Centre of Central Macedonia.
Tonight, this program will be presented at the impressive Kolarac in Belgrade, marking a historic occasion for the orchestra as it represents Greek culture in yet another European capital.
