On Sunday, the Thessaloniki State Symphonic Orchestra left a lasting impression on another major European capital with a triumphant performance at Kolarac in Belgrade. More than 600 music enthusiasts attended and gave a warm round of applause to the orchestra, conductor Miltos Logiadis, and the renowned Norwegian trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth by the end of the evening.
TSSO presented the Serbian audience with the same program they performed two days earlier in Thessaloniki. This included two beloved trumpet concertos played by Tine Thing Helseth: Haydn's classic, which highlights the instrument's melodic richness, and Arutiunian's concerto, filled with rhythmic and melodic elements from Armenian tradition. The program also featured two splendid Greek compositions by Skalkottas and Konstantinidis. Skalkottas' 'Little Symphony' is a prime example of his neoclassical style, while Konstantinidis' 'Dodecanesian Suite No. 2' evokes emotions through its six dances.
This concert was part of the 'Actions of Extroversion and Internationalization of TSSO' project, funded by the European Union through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan 'Greece 2.0.'
