The stars of Vasilis Varvaresos and Leo McFall shone with the TSSO 01 February 2026

The Aristotle University Ceremony Hall ultimately proved too small, despite its 1000-plus seats, to accommodate all the listeners who wished to enjoy the wonderful works of Sergei Prokofiev and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky from the TSSO and its distinguished guests, Vasilis Varvaressos and Leo McFall. Many friends unfortunately did not find a ticket, while a large number of listeners chose to watch the concert standing rather than miss it!!

All the artists on stage fully justified the high expectations, since Vasilis Varvaressos gave the audience of his city an unrepeatable performance of Prokofiev's 'Piano Concerto No.2'.
A work so demanding that it has rightly been described as 'Prokofiev's Everest', since top pianists have never managed to perform it. The audience enthusiastically adored the soloist, while constantly calling him back to the stage, with Varvaresos responding with two captivating improvisations.

In the second part, Leo McFall and the TSSO
proved once again that they are made for each other, since the chemistry of the great English conductor with the orchestra and the relationship he has developed with its musicians, offer the audience the opportunity to enjoy brilliant performances of wonderful works, such as that of Tchaikovsky's 'Fifth Symphony', on Saturday. The rare melodic richness and depth of emotion of the work, its raw passion and captivating charm were generously unfolded on stage, in an evening that will remain in everyone's hearts for a long time, as the people who formed lines to congratulate them at the end told the artists.
